Girls by Joshua Luna.

If you’ve never read anything by the Luna Brothers, please fix that asap and pick up a trade paperback or something. Amazing body of work seriously.

My advice would be to start with The Sword, then onto Girls then maybe Ultra. All are fantastic and destined for screen adaptations I’m sure.

Manji by Joshua Luna.

Featured pin-up from Blade of the Immortal #95 from Dark Horse Comics.

Looks like Image are releasing a snazzy new print of ULTRA by The Luna Brothers in September. It’s going to be a deluxe hardcover with slipcase sleeve too so well worth the investment if you’ve not happened upon the Luna Bros. work before.

ULTRA was their first title. An 8 issue series following superhero Ultra, a young woman struggling to find love and companionship, over the course of a busy week. Really good heartfelt stuff believe me. Their later works, The Sword and Girls, are simply some next level, incredible comics which I urge everyone to visit asap. Ultra gives you a taste of their skills for envisioning the people within the costumes.

I just heard that Girls by Joshua and Jonathan Luna is coming out in a complete softcover edition on November 16th 2011. Much the same as the previously released hardback edition, this volume will collect the entire series issues #1-#24. Well worth slipping a little Christmas money aside for come the Holidays believe me.
This is an absolutely fantastic old school horror comic with an engrossing and original take on the small town under siege formula. Seriously, this book is as good as it gets and destined for a silver screen adaptation at some point I’m sure. As well as being genuinely creepy, it also shines a thought provoking light at the whole battle of the sexes argument with disturbing and unnerving results. This ain’t your typical comic folks, but it is outstanding, captivating storytelling which I’d recommend in a heartbeat.
