X-Men Anime. Coming Soon.
Personally, I’ve not been a fan of Marvel’s previous jaunts into animated features just because they turn out to be fucking stupid fests. However, these new anime projects they’ve commissioned from Madhouse Studios have garnered my attentions. I’ve always enjoyed Japanese anime more than western efforts, if only because anime lends it’s self beautifully to comic book style action.
I’m hopeful, and this first look tease at the X-men franchise could be promising. The other titles being developed for anime are Blade, Wolverine and Iron Man and all are said to be under the watchful gaze of Warren Ellis.
“The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on”.
